John H. Ambrogi
A 30-year veteran educator, John Ambrogi has moved into higher education as associate professor of educational leadership at Rhode Island College. Ambrogi spent 19 years as a district superintendent in New Jersey and Rhode Island. He recently completed a 10-year stint in the top post of the South River, N.J., Public Schools.

Herbert M. Berg
After taking a break from the superintendency, Herb Berg returns to the field as superintendent in Kershaw County, S.C. Berg spent the past two years as executive director of the Association for the Advancement of International Education. He earlier was superintendent in Alexandria, Va., Puyallup, Wash., and Centralia, Wash.

Richard J. Brockel
After five years in the top berth of the Wood-Ridge, N.J., district, Richard Brockel has moved into the superintendency in Park Ridge, N.J. Earlier he served as an assistant superintendent in Fort Lee, principal in Springfield and assistant principal in Ridgefield, all in New Jersey. Brockel’s doctoral research was honored by AASA in 1991.

Julie Carbajal
Julie Carbajal, a two-decade veteran of the Flour Bluff Independent School District in Corpus Christi, Texas, has been elevated to district superintendent. She came to Flour Bluff in 1981 and has served as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, director of instruction and curriculum supervisor, among various roles.

Larry Leverett
Following 25 years at the local and state levels in New Jersey, Larry Leverett has moved to Greenwich, Conn., as superintendent. He most recently was superintendent in Plainfield, N.J. Earlier Leverett worked as director of learning for the New Community Corp. in Newark, N.J., and assistant state commissioner in New Jersey.

Jamie P. Savedoff
The former superintendent in East Brunswick, N.J., Jamie Savedoff, has assumed the superintendency of the Lower Merion School District, a suburb on Philadelphia’s Main Line. Earlier Savedoff was superintendent of the Montgomery Township Schools in Skillman, N.J., and has held various school leadership posts.
