Jo Anne L. Antonacci
The new superintendent of the Monroe 2-Orleans Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Spencerport, N.Y., is Jo Anne Antonacci. She began her career with the agency as a speech and language teacher 32 years ago. Antonacci since has served in various capacities with BOCES, including department supervisor, building administrator, instructional specialist, exceptional children executive director, assistant superintendent for instructional programs, chief operating officer and deputy superintendent. Antonacci joined AASA in 2006.

Martin W. Bates
The Granite School District in Salt Lake City, Utah, has welcomed Martin Bates as the 16th superintendent in the district’s 106-year history. An AASA member since July, he worked as assistant superintendent in Granite, responsible for administrative and legal services, since 1999. Earlier, Bates served in other district administrative capacities in Granite for two years, as well as in Provo, Utah, and Salt Lake City. He started as a math teacher for two years in Provo. Bates earned both a juris doctor and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Brigham Young University.

Jeffrey B. Bearden
After 25 years in Maine, Jeff Bearden has joined the Fayette County, Ga., schools as superintendent. A member of AASA since 2008, Bearden worked for three years in the top executive post of Maine School Administrative District 35 in Eliot. Previously, he served as superintendent in Limestone and multiple positions in Maine School Administrative District 1 in Presque Isle, including assistant superintendent for business, assistant principal and district athletic administrator. Bearden also has been an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University, from whom he earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership.

Deborah A. Cylke
Deborah Cylke, an AASA member since 1999, has assumed the superintendency in Pawtucket, R.I., bringing with her 32 years of experience in the 62,000-student Washoe County School District in Reno, Nev. Cylke served as a teacher, high school assistant principal, middle school principal and area superintendent. She closed her Washoe County career with four years as superintendent of secondary schools, overseeing 29,000 students. For the last three years, she worked for Creative Learning Systems in Longmont, Colo., an education technology firm.

Lisa A. Hagel
A 26-year educator, Lisa Hagel has assumed the superintendency of Genesse Intermediate School District in Flint, Mich., after serving as superintendent of the Mount Morris, Mich., Consolidated Schools. Earlier, she worked as a coach, elementary school principal, high school principal and curriculum director. She served as president of the Genesee County, Mich., Superintendents Association, chaired the GenNET governing board and chaired accreditation teams for the North Central Association. Hagel has been a member of AASA since 2005.

Stacy L. Scott
After spending two years as associate superintendent for shared accountability in the 143,000-student Montgomery County, Md., Public Schools, Stacy Scott has moved into the superintendency in Dracut, Mass. Earlier, Scott was founder and president of the Center for Understanding Equity and principal of Exec Results Consulting. A licensed clinical psychologist, he worked in schools in Boston, Worcester and Dedham, all in Massachusetts, and served a governor-appointed term on the state board of education. An AASA member since 2009, Scott earned an Ed.D. in counseling and consulting psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
