Sidelight: Susan Elliott

SIDELIGHT

Susan Elliott, superintendent of Upper Moreland School District in Willow Grove, Pa., picked up a field hockey stick in 7th grade and never put it down. She played through college at Millersville University and, since 2014, has represented the country as a member of the U.S. Women’s Masters Field Hockey Team, competing in indoor and outdoor tournaments worldwide. Elliott, who plays offense and midfield, loves the sport’s intensity and the “hockey family” built through years of competition. “It’s a great stress release,” she says. An AASA member since 2019, she helps at preseason practices at Upper Moreland High School and sometimes cheers on athletes at games.
