Ethical Educator
Scenario: ![]()
A middle school English department tasks students with writing an argumentative essay using a process that involves multiple steps. Students sign a teacher-devised contract agreeing not to use assistance from artificial intelligence. Some teachers enter their grading rubric into an AI-assisted platform and upload the essays for assessment. The program provides feedback and grades within minutes. One teacher considers this hypocritical behavior as she spends hours grading the students’ essays. She complains to the department chair and principal. How would you advise the principal or department chair to respond?
