Alexandria, Va. – May 30, 2023 AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is pleased to announce the launch of a new partnership with Kovexa, an education advisory company committed to accelerating innovation in K-12 education. Kovexa’s founder Andrew Ko will remain the company’s chief executive officer, and in addition, he will serve as AASA’s chief innovation adviser.

Through the partnership, Kovexa will address key topics that superintendents and other school system leaders are facing on a daily basis, while understanding the ever-changing landscape of advanced technologies to bolster AASA’s member engagement, expand reach and drive meaningful change to transform public education.

“We are delighted to have Andrew Ko join the AASA family as our chief innovation adviser,” said David R. Schuler, executive director, AASA. “His experience and expertise in education and technology, along with the innovative ideas of Kovexa, will help us create new solutions that will benefit our members and their students.”

Kovexa brings a wealth of expertise to AASA, including a collaborative assembly of luminaries in the education and technology fields and an operations team with extensive experience in education innovation. Led by Ko, the team will review and assist current AASA programs in attracting new partners and investments.

With more than 25 years of experience leading education initiatives, Ko is a recognized leader in the education sector, having previously served as managing director of global education at Amazon Web Services, corporate vice president of Samsung Global Education and general manager for Microsoft Corporation’s U.S. Education business.

His background in education, consulting for the World Bank, his former role as a member of Virginia’s state board of education and experience as a venture capitalist provide a strong foundation for this position.

“As chief innovation adviser at AASA on behalf of Kovexa, I am honored to advise and collaborate with such a respected organization,” said Ko. “Together, with Kovexa’s expertise, we will attract new partners and investments, and develop innovative solutions to transform public education and benefit students and educators alike. Our shared goal is to ensure equitable access to high-quality education for all students. I am excited to be part of this effort and look forward to making a meaningful impact.”
