Arizona’s Buckeye Elem. School, Agua Fria Union High School Districts serving as host sites

Alexandria, Va. – March 11, 2022 – Superintendents and other administrators championing dynamic programs of college and career readiness and transformational learning environments are gathering in Arizona, March 13-15, as part of AASA, The School Superintendents Association’sRedefining Ready! Cohort and Transformational Leadership Consortium. Host sites include the Buckeye Elementary School and Agua Fria Union High School Districts.

The Redefining Ready! initiative introduces research-based metrics to appropriately assess whether students are ready to pursue their lifelong goals and dreams following post-secondary education.

The purpose of the Transformational Leadership Consortium is to support school district administrators as they scale successful models in support of engaging, effective learning experiences using digital media as well as educational and community partnerships to be the leading national voices for innovation in our nation’s public schools.

“The challenging times we’re in have presented unique opportunities to foster teaching and learning excellence in our schools—which is why I applaud the school system leaders joining us in Arizona who are part of these two robust programs administered by our Leadership Network,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “Our communities are filled with innovators, risk-takers and entrepreneurs who are putting aside best practices of the past to develop future-driven, equity-based solutions for our students. This meeting will provide AASA members with opportunities to share winning strategies on behalf of the students they serve.”

“Buckeye Elementary School District is proud to serve as one of the host districts as we work to shape educational technology policies and programs, as well as real-life workplace situations for students as they continue to learn and grow,” said Kristi Wilson, superintendent, Buckeye Elementary School District and immediate past president, AASA. “Sustained professional development is essential for all district leaders. These two platforms—the Redefining Ready! Cohort and the Transformational Leadership Consortium—are providing just that for the outstanding superintendents who are part of these initiatives.”

“The quality of leadership teams at all schools is a critical driver for academic performance,” said Mark Yslas, superintendent, Agua Fria Union High School District. “A school district’s culture is also a benchmark for school success. District leaders joining us will observe student engagement, innovating leading and hands-on learning during their school visits. We’re hoping for a shared synergy from our visitors from across the country.”

Critical themes throughout the three-day meeting will include C-Stem activities, a Learning Stair presentation, Z-Space demonstration, hallway space use and literacy use. Attendees will visit John S. McCain III Elementary School and Canyon View High School.
