The Magic City Acceptance Academy (MCAA), a charter school in Homewood, Alabama, was founded in 2021 by Birmingham AIDS Outreach to support students who have faced bullying or exclusion in traditional schools. Serving grades 6–12, MCAA provides a brave, inclusive, and affirming environment, with specialized support for neurodiverse students and those with social-emotional challenges. Key features include a sensory room, trauma-informed curricula, restorative justice practices, a therapy animal, and a Wellness Suite.
