National Principal Supervisor Academy
Supporting principals in a partnership role.

AASA partners with the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership to bring standards-based Principal Supervisor Professional Learning Academy to central office leaders who support principals' instructional leadership growth as their primary responsibility.
The content for this academy is based upon the national Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL), current research on adult learning and leadership development from the Wallace Foundation and other sources, as well as promising practices from school systems across the country.
Academy participants will:
- work from problems of practice
- use cycles of inquiry
- learn from case studies
- utilize virtual professional learning communities
- benefit from virtual individual coaching
Across our country, district leaders continue to strive to support principals at scale. Leading with exemplary practices of principal supervision is even more challenging in this time of unprecedented change. Successful principal supervision requires new ways of supporting principals in a partnership role, leading by teaching and learning in an atmosphere of mutual accountability.
Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive an AASA/CEL diploma of completion and professional achievement, a valuable addition to their professional portfolio.

I am much more cognizant about protecting principals’ instructional leadership time. Also, on my site visits and in my conversations with principals, I am constantly thinking about the through line to students and how what we are doing is going to impact student learning. This Academy has brought increased awareness and reflection to my practice.
Shane Dublin
My leadership practice has changed as a result of the Principal Supervisor Academy. I now have the tools to focus specifically on the things that matter the most in affecting educational outcomes.
