AASA Statement on ECCA's Inclusion in Republican Tax Bill

May 12, 2025

David R. Schuler, Executive Director of AASA, The School Superintendents Association, released the following statement today on the Republican Tax Bill

"We are deeply disappointed to see the Educational Choice for Children Act included in the Republican tax bill. Public dollars should fund public schools—the institutions that exist to serve every student, in every community, no exceptions."

"Every child, no matter their zip code, deserves access to a high-quality public education. Public schools are not only the foundation of our communities—they are American families’ number one choice, serving 90% of students, making them essential to the strength and future of our country."

"We urge Congress to prioritize sustainable investment in public education to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed and thrive."
