Matt Wakely, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, leads K-12 efforts across the 250-person AE firm with extensive experience in the design and planning of educational facilities. He guides the project scoping process by engaging with school districts and communities to ensure solutions reflect both practical needs and a shared vision. As a registered architect in Michigan, Florida, and Illinois, Matt leverages his educational design expertise to create district-wide master plans alongside fiscal strategies. He is nationally recognized for his work in safety and security design for schools, with features in The Washington Post, NPR, CNN, and the Chicago Tribune. He has presented at key industry forums including the Michigan School Business Officials Conference and AIA Michigan’s K-12 Education Seminar. Matt’s credentials include NCARB certification, LEED Accredited Professional status through the U.S. Green Building Council, and active membership in the American Institute of Architects. As a member of the State of Michigan Board of Architects, he contributes expertise to the advancement of the profession.
