Mary Decker

Associate Director of Schools for Teaching and Learning, Franklin Special District (Tenn.)

Dr. Mary Decker is thrilled and fortunate to be in her sixth year of serving as associate director of schools in the Franklin Special District. During her initial year in this role, she was named the district supervisor of the year and proceeded to the state competition. Previously she was the curriculum and professional learning supervisor for six years in Franklin Special. Before moving to Tennessee, Mary was a vice principal and principal in the Sacramento, California area, as well as an elementary school teacher in various grade levels in California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Mary has had the honor to co-present with her district colleagues several recent professional learning sessions at national conferences, including the 2024 Learning Forward Annual Conference in Denver (data practices for improving outcomes for students), the 2025 AASA National Conference on Education in New Orleans (therapy dog district program), and the 2025 Consortium of State School Boards (COSSBA) National Conference in Atlanta (high leverage district data practices). Mary is very excited to co-present at the December 2025 Learning Forward Annual Conference in Boston (maximizing Tier I instruction).
