Luis Correa
Dr. Luis Correa is the Superintendent of Gurnee School District 56, a role he assumed on July 1, 2023. Prior to becoming Superintendent, he served in key administrative roles within the district, helping ensure a smooth and seamless leadership transition.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Correa brings a strong background in curriculum development and multilingual education. As Superintendent, he has focused on sustaining the district’s innovative culture while intentionally addressing the needs of its diverse student population.
Dr. Correa’s key priorities and recent initiatives include leading the implementation of the district’s Strategic Plan and the Portrait of a Graduate, expanding opportunities for family and community engagement, and strengthening student support systems. Under his leadership, District 56 implemented the Community Eligibility Program (CEP), allowing all students across the district’s four schools to receive free breakfast and lunch. He has also supported the expansion of community-based programs, including partnerships with the Boys & Girls Club, to better meet the needs of students and families.
Dr. Correa is a proud graduate of the inaugural AASA Aspiring Superintendents for Latino/a Leaders cohort and remains committed to advancing equitable, student-centered educational opportunities for all learners.
