Edward Manuszak
Edward J. Manuszak II, PhD, is the Executive Director for Early Childhood at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, a regional service agency since July 1, 2022. Before that he served as the Superintendent of Dundee Community Schools from Aug. 2016 through June 30, 2022. Since 2017, he is the founding co-chair and current co-lead of the AASA National Early Learning Cohort, a group of national experts in the field of Early Learning. In Feb. 2022 he helped to publish, organize, edit, and write the AASA Early Learning Cohort Early Childhood and Learning Toolkit. He was also a team member of the Federal Office of Head Start Expert Work Group, National Association of the Education Young Children Developmentally Appropriate Practice Book Review Team, council member for the Michigan Association of School Administrators, current member of the NAEYC Accreditation Council, current member of the Board of Directors for the Michigan Head Start Association, Board Member with the National Parent Leadership Institute, and is a National Advisory Committee member for Foundations, Inc., and past Chairperson of the Lenawee and Monroe County Great Start Collaborative and past member of the Children’s Action Network of Monroe County. He has been a professional educator for 31 years holding various positions as Pre-School, Kindergarten and 1st grade Teacher, Elementary Building Principal, Director of State and Federal Programs, Director of Early Childhood Education, Presenter and Consultant, Assistant Superintendent and Adjunct Faculty Member at Siena Heights University and Eastern Michigan University. He has presented at numerous local, state, regional, and national level conferences. He has worked with Standards for Success (SFS) and now Education Advance Incorporated to publish the Early Learning Program Assessment Tool (ELPAT) © he designed and created that allows for districts and programs to measure efficiently and effectively their Early Learning Program from Birth through Age Eight. This has been included in his published dissertation research: Investigating Early Childhood Education Through a Systemic Lens: What Impact Does Early Childhood Education Have on District Level Leadership. He earned his undergraduate Bachelors of Arts degree from Butler University in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Learning Disabilities. He earned his Masters of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Recently he completed and defended his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. He and his wife, Corey, have two wonderful sons, Lucas and Noah. He enjoys his time when not making Early Childhood Matter Most by spending time with his family outdoors hiking, biking, running, swimming, and explore National Parks around the nation!
