Colon Lewis
Dr. Colon Lewis is an accomplished educational leader with more than two decades of experience driving meaningful change in K-12 education. His career reflects a deep commitment to developing educators, strengthening organizations, and building systems where every student has the opportunity to thrive. He has worked with over 100 school systems throughout 25 states.
Dr. Lewis currently serves as Vice President of AASA’s Center for Leadership & Learning, continuing the work he built as Chief Learning Officer at Battelle for Kids. In both positions, he has led professional development initiatives, guided the design of competency-based learning models, and advanced thought leadership on deeper learning and student success frameworks across large-scale education systems.
His work is grounded in more than a decade of hands-on school leadership. As a principal and administrator with Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools and Columbus City Schools from 2001 to 2015, he developed a firsthand understanding of schools and communities that continues to inform his approach at every level.
He holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Ohio University and a State of Ohio Professional Superintendent’s License. This foundation reflects both his scholarly rigor and his dedication to the profession.
A recognized voice in equitable, student-centered educational practice, Dr. Lewis is known for turning vision into action and bringing others along in the process.
