Claire Mitzel serves as the Director of Communications and Public Relations for Roanoke City Public Schools, where she leads thedivision’s strategic communications, media relations, and public engagement efforts. Prior to joining RCPS, she reported on K-12 education for The Roanoke Times and began her career covering public health and government for local newspapers in Missouri and Virginia. She holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
