Capri Richardson
Capri Richardson is the Founder and Owner of First Contact Athletic Counseling, PLLC and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate Supervised by Angela Bulls, LPC-S, in the Austin, TX area. She received her master’s degree in counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Capri attended the University of Montana and earned her bachelor’s in psychology and minor in Dance. Capri was a member of the Women’s Volleyball Team from 2011-2015 and was the first African-American player on the UM roster. During this time, she amassed various accolades such as Big-Sky Player of the Week, Third Highest Hitting Percentage in a Single Season, and Ranked in the Top Ten for Hitting and Blocking in her senior season. Following her collegiate playing career, Capri played professional volleyball for three years throughout Europe. Upon retirement, she found ways to give back to the next generation of volleyball players through coaching travel club volleyball, while also gaining experience in different mental health arenas. These included work with children on the autism spectrum, residential facilities, and clients with eating disorders to name a few. Once she began her path toward counseling, she became a graduate assistant volleyball coach while attending her counseling program. This experience sparked a passion in combining athletics with mental health counseling.
Capri has most recently worked with Baylor Athletics, Austin Independent School District, Dallas College Athletics, and Bell County Juvenile Services. She has also been featured on CBS Sports and a podcast guest on Marriage Mondays with the Kings, Morgan’s Message’s The Mental Matchup, and Raising Athletes Podcast and others.
In her current private practice, she provides athletes, coaches, and their families a space for their inner selves to become stronger and more resilient. She has had the pleasure to have worked with Power 4 collegiate athletes, draftees, and elite high school players & programs. By integrating her athletic experience & counseling knowledge, she aims to assist clients in discovering coping skills, processing trauma, and nurturing the holistic well-being necessary for on and off the court/field.
