The Daniel A. Domenech Scholarship Fund

Help Support the Diverse Pipeline of Educational Leaders

Between 2008 and 2018, the Latino share of the total U.S. population increased from 16% to 18%, with Latinos accounting for about half (52%) of all U.S. population growth in that period. Yet of the 13,600 school districts in the United States, only 2% of superintendents are Latino or Latina.

In 2019, AASA established an Advisory Committee of National Latino and Latina Leaders and outlining imperatives for this underrepresented group in K-12 education. In 2020, AASA launched the Aspiring Superintendents Academy® for Latino and Latina Leaders. During recruitment for each academy year, we found that over 15% of accepted applicants did not enroll due to financial hardship. To alleviate this challenge and reiterate our commitment to our Latino and Latina educators, we established The Daniel A. Domenech Scholarship.

By donating to the scholarship, you'll support aspiring Latino/a superintendents that due to financial hardship are unable to participate in the academy.

Donations can be made in a variety of amounts and donations are tax-deductible.
