About 37 percent of all superintendents nationwide reported serving in the role for fewer than five years, an increase of five percentage points compared to 10 years prior, according to AASA national surveys.

Male superintendents reported serving in the superintendency longer than females, although the longevity of female superintendents has increased substantially over the previous years.
