Mark Bielang and Dan being interviewed by Malta's television station.
St. Julian’s, Malta – AASA is in the news here in Malta. On the front page of the Malta Sunday papers there is an article about AASA’s Invitational International Seminar on Schooling
. It mentions that U.S. Ambassador Douglas Kmiec will be hosting a reception for us at his residence on Tuesday evening.
This beautiful tiny island in the middle of the Mediterranean is our last stop. AASA President Mark Bielang and I had a chance to meet with the ambassador in his residence for an interview we did together for the local television station. Ambassador Kmiec has been recently appointed by the Obama Administration. In a multicultural society like Malta, he is anxious to facilitate the introduction of comparative religion in school curricula as a means to encourage understanding between faiths. Mark spoke eloquently about AASA’s mission and the problems we currently face back home. I spoke about the purpose of the International Seminars and the role that education can play in helping to bridge relationships between the United States and the countries we visit.
Tomorrow we will be meeting with Malta’s education officials prior to a press conference at the Ambassador’s residence.
