AASA is governed by an elected Governing Board, drawn from seven distinct U.S. geographic regions, and Executive Committee, elected by the Governing Board to represent each region.
AASA's governance structure engages the considerable talents of its diverse, dynamic membership. This structure assures that AASA is truly a national organization with an agenda that reflects the viewpoints of school administrators throughout the country.
AASA Bylaws, Beliefs and Position Statements are the guiding documents that dictate AASA’s structure and reflect the organization’s philosophy and approach to major issues in education.
The Beliefs and Position Statements are developed through the Beliefs and Positions Subcommittee of the Executive Committee. Following review by the Executive Committee, these documents are voted on by the Governing Board.
The Position Statements are reviewed and updated on a rotating calendar.
