Elevate your district's commitment to student well-being with AASA's Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) Cohort. Join a dynamic community focused on developing and scaling systemic SEL implementation plans for equitable and inclusive classroom environments.
The SEL Cohort is a vibrant community engaged in meaningful dialogue about how SEL is contributing to the whole child — from physical and mental health to the development of fundamental, lifelong learning skills.
Learning Outcomes:
- Work together as a community of practice, share resources and develop action plans
- Experience virtual and in-person site visits to get a firsthand look at how SEL programs are being implemented across the country
- Engage in real-time conversations with leaders at different stages of implementation and leading districts of different sizes and demographics
- Learn innovative and immediately implementable strategies for furthering SEL in your district

Since 2018, the Marshalltown school community has experienced a steady stream of trauma, including a physically devastating EF3 Tornado and derecho, aka land hurricane, while simultaneously dealing with the pandemic. We were already doing a lot of work in the SEL realm and becoming a member of the AASA SEL Cohort allowed us to work with a community of passionate professionals who helped us learn, grow, develop and implement evidence-based practices to help ALL of our students cope better with life’s challenges.Theron Schutte
