School districts, both small and large, are searching for new ways to ensure that principals get the skills, resources and time they need to be instructional leaders. This interactive session will give you the background and tools necessary to understand what principals need and how to provide it.

Using the Council of Chief State School Officers principal supervisor standards as a guide, you will have opportunities to self-assess how you currently support principals as well as plan for specific next steps. This session will be differentiated to ensure that a variety of district contexts will be addressed.

You will be provided with CEL's Principal Support Framework and the 4 Dimension of Instructional Leadership™ as research-based frameworks to self-assess current practice, instigate action, and plan next steps teams can take back to their districts and implement during the school year.

 What you will learn:

• Research on what effective districts do to support principals as instructional leaders.

• Specific strategies for better supporting principals as instructional leaders.

• How to plan next steps to improve principal learning.
