Get the Lead out of Schools
I am now getting another lesson in the amount of
non-education things superintendents deal with - today, it is the Water
Resources Development Act. In addition to a previously existing Lead and Copper rule, the Get the Lead out of Schools Act addresses the lack of Federal laws around lead testing in schools. This bill would require water utilities to test the water of schools they
serve for lead - they currently only have to test homes. The bill would
also add a grant program to reimburse LEAs, water utilities, or a state agency
for the cost of any necessary remediation.
