School Administrator Takes Silver and Bronze in One Contest and Award of Excellence in NSPRA Competition

Managing Editor Liz Griffin represented AASA on June 25 at the 38th annual EXCEL Awards Dinner run by Association Media & Publishing, which recognized AASA with two national publication honors.

Conference Daily Online was named the silver medalist in the Online Convention Daily/digital category for its four-day multimedia newsletter at AASA’s 2018 National Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn.

School Administrator magazine received the bronze medal in the feature article category for “Channeling Grief into Kindness” by Mark L. Adler, superintendent of the Ralston Public Schools in Ralston, Neb., about the suicide of his teenage son after cyberbullying. The article was published last August.

In addition, AASA learned this week that School Administrator has been accorded the Award of Excellence in the magazine category of the National School Public Relations Association’s annual publications and digital media contest. Our entry consisted of the August 2017 issue (opioids crisis) and September 2017 issue (rewiring students’ brains). AASA was the lone professional association receiving the top honor. NSPRA received 1,061 entries in this year’s competition.
