Alexandria, Va. – (Nov. 3, 2017) – Effective leaders are essential in all industries, especially in our schools. In partnership with AASA, The School Superintendents Association, the Mississippi Association of School Administrators (MASA) has launched the Mississippi Aspiring and Early Career Superintendents Academy to bolster public school district leadership.

The first meeting — themed “Know Thyself” — was held in Jackson, Miss., on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, where educators from across the state engaged in hands-on activities designed to help prepare them for their respective journeys in becoming outstanding school district administrators.

“The superintendent is the most critical change agent in public education today,” said Lisa Karmacharya, executive director, MASA. “This unique partnership between AASA and MASA provides an exceptional opportunity for those who wish to become leaders of our public school systems and to excel on the job. We are excited about the program and opportunity to prepare a new generation of school superintendents committed to preparing students to be successful in school and in later life.”
