Alexandria, Va. – July 28, 2017 – AASA, The School Superintendents Association, released the following statement following the vote on the “skinny repeal” of the Affordable Care Act yesterday. AASA is grateful to the 51 U.S. Senators who voted to preserve school-based Medicaid programs and end a divisive health care debate that would have jeopardized the critical services and supports America’s most vulnerable children receive in school.

“I am so proud of the thousands of superintendents who made calls, sent emails, wrote op-eds and visited with Senators personally in opposition to a per-capita cap for Medicaid. Our membership’s advocacy on behalf of kids in poverty and kids with disabilities made a difference in this debate,” said Daniel A Domenech, executive director, AASA.
