Gail Pletnick Pres installationAlexandria, Va. – (July 11, 2017) – Gail Pletnick, superintendent of Dysart Unified School District 89 in Surprise, Ariz., was sworn in today as the 2017-18 president of AASA, The School Superintendents Association

Under Pletnick’s leadership, her school district has a national reputation for its 21st-century learning environment and its support of a digital transformation that has changed teaching and learning. A member of AASA’s Digital Consortium, Pletnick has established and expanded multiple pathways of learning to provide rigorous learning opportunities to the district’s diverse population of students. 

“Superintendents are working hard to ensure that schools have redefined, redesigned and reimagined teaching and learning environments so students will be successful beyond high school,” said Pletnick. “Becoming president of AASA is truly an honor. At a time when the stakes have never been higher in public education, I am looking forward to making sure the heavy lifting being done by our nation’s school system leaders on behalf of their school districts will be recognized in their communities and throughout the nation.”
