AASA’s 2017 Discover China Program To Get Underway

Alexandria, Va. – July 7, 2017 – To provide a platform for U.S. educators to build professional networks with their Chinese counterparts, AASA’s 2017 Discover China program convenes next week in Beijing.

Sponsored by Triway International Group, the program begins with a visit to the Beijing No. 18 Middle School, Monday, July 10, and concludes with a visit to Yuhuatai Senior High School on Tuesday, July 18.

Program topics will include: 
• Current and potential programs between China and the U.S.;
• STEM education;
• AASA’s National Superintendent Certification program;
• AASA’s National Conference on Education;
• School leadership; and 
• Organizational structure.

The Chinese delegation will also visit the high school affiliated with Renmin University of China, Beijing Institute of Education, Beijing Shunyi Niulanshan First Secondary School, the China Education Association for International Exchange and the Shanghai STEM+ Research Institute.

“Recent years have witnessed rapid accelerations of the globalization of education and the in-depth cultural and educational exchanges between the United States and China,” said Chuck Woodruff, AASA chief operating officer. “The program provides both American and Chinese educators with more direct resources to learn about the education systems from both countries. With the growing popularity of Mandarin programs in the U.S., AASA’s Discover China initiative provides a huge benefit for AASA members.”
