Students asked to tell the world how they are more than a test score in Twitter contest

Arlington, Va. – May 1, 2017 – High school seniors can now submit their entries to a Twitter-based scholarship competition allowing them to tell the world how they are ready for college and careers beyond a single standardized test score.

The Redefining Ready! National Scholarship 2017 contest is sponsored by AASA, The School Superintendents Association, and Hobsons, the company behind Naviance. It is inspired by AASA’s Redefining Ready! initiative, designed to more accurately determine college and career readiness.

Redefining Ready! uses various metrics, including success in Advanced Placement or dual credit classes, completion of internships or industry certifications and co-curricular participation, to better assess students' potential for postsecondary success.
In a video no longer than 30 seconds, students must use one or more of those metrics to explain why they are college or career ready. The organizations will award several scholarships, including a grand prize of $5,000.
