AASA Issues Statement On Teacher Preparation Regulations

Alexandria, Va. – March 7, 2017 – Today, Daniel A. Domenech, executive director of AASA, The School Superintendents Association, issued the following statement on recent efforts of Congress to rescind certain education regulations:

“AASA was pleased with the return of decision-making power to education professionals at the state and local level under the Every Student Succeeds Act. Under the regulations regarding teacher preparation programs, released last October, the federal government mandates increased reporting.

“We applaud Senator Benjamin Sasse (R-Neb.) for his effort to include the final regulations on teacher preparation programs in the Congressional Review Act disapproval resolutions.
