Alexandria, Va. – Dec. 1, 2016 – AASA, The School Superintendents Association, announced today the recipients of the 2017 Helping Kids Program, an urgent need mini grant. The program is funded by AASA through a partnership with the National Joint Powers Alliance.

NJPA provides member-centered solutions that enable government, education and non-profit agencies to work more efficiently and leverages its resources to effectively reinvest in the communities it serves as an invaluable service cooperative partner.

Since 2012, AASA and NJPA have partnered to create the mini grant, which can be used for immediate needs that directly impact students. Grantees’ requests have ranged from boots, coats and non-perishable sundries to dental care and even temporary housing stipends.

“NJPA is our most valuable AASA School Solutions Center partner,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “This partnership helps to ensure that the voices of AASA members are being heard. We thank NJPA for its continuing support.”

For 2017, 28 winning districts were chosen in seven regions across the country.
