Alexandria, Va. – May 17, 2016 – California’s Pleasant Valley School District (PVSD), located in Ventura County, recently named Angelica Ramsey as its new superintendent.

Ramsey is currently the associate superintendent of educational services at the Santa Clara County Office of Education in San Jose, Calif. She is also among the 2015-16 cohort of educators participating in the AASA-University of Southern California Urban Superintendents Academy.

“I can attest to the success of the [Academy],” said Ramsey. “The topics covered and the readings have allowed me to be a more reflective leader. The unprecedented access to current leaders, a faculty of practitioners, an amazing mentor, and a national network of brilliant and passionate cohort peers all supported me with the confidence to apply and successfully attain a superintendent position this spring.”

“We believe Dr. Ramsey will have a long term commitment to our district and our community,” said PVSD Board President Suzanne Kitchens in a press release. “Her core values of student priority, teamwork, professionalism, hard work and accountability are a match for our district.” Kitchens said the board will work with Dr. Ramsey this summer on goals and priorities for the new school year. Ramsey begins her tenure with PVSD on July 11, 2016.
