About the Study
Will there be enough candidates to fill the looming number of job openings in the superintendency? The answer is no, according to a nationwide survey of school superintendents released by the AASA Center for System Leadership™.
The “2007 State of the Superintendency Mini-Survey: Aspiring to the Superintendency” offers a snapshot of:
- The state of the pipeline to the superintendency
- Incentives and barriers facing those considering the superintendency
- Steps for increasing the supply of qualified candidates prepared to assume the superintendency
The survey expands on findings from AASA’s 2006 State of the American School Superintendency Mid-Decade Study, which suggested that a large pipeline will be required to fill superintendent job openings in the near future.
The “2007 State of the Superintendency Mini-Survey: Aspiring to the Superintendency” is available free to AASA members (member login required). Nonmembers may purchase a copy for $29.95.
