Alexandria, Va. – December 10, 2019 – To help protect against the continued threat of gun violence in our nation’s schools, AASA, The School Superintendents Association, announced today that it has added EAGL gunshot detection, lockdown and countermeasure technology to its School Safety & Crisis Planning Toolkit. The technology was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy Pacific Northwest National Laboratory In direct response to the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy.

EAGL is a fully automated active shooter response system, which removes the human element—and deadly associated delays—from the equation, allowing all area first responders to be notified in as little as 1.2 seconds following a gunshot, indoors or out.

“We are pleased to welcome CIT Integration/EAGL as a resource that school districts should be aware of in their ongoing efforts to promote school safety,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “As the nation’s premier organization serving public school district leadership, it is our job to make school systems aware of services that offer protection to students, particularly with the increase in school shootings across the country. This speaks to the unparalleled commitment we make to our school districts and the communities in which they’re located to keep them informed in all areas that positively affect the safety of their students.”

EAGL is headquartered and the product is manufactured in Albuquerque, N.M. Located in Boston, CIT Integration is the premiere integrator of EAGL in schools, hospitals, airports, government, and other public and private buildings across the country.

“As a parent of three, and a career-long educator myself, I am dedicated to bringing this life-saving technology to market, because it can save lives and prevent the trauma experienced by would-be survivors, their loved ones and their communities,” said Chéri Smith, vice president, CIT. “We are proud to be a part of this difference-making partnership with AASA, introducing this revolutionary, life-saving and affordable technology to our nation’s schools.”

EAGL active shooter systems will be offered at a discount to AASA members through a special arrangement with CIT and EAGL. Often, schools pay for their systems through donations from parents, alumni, grants or a combination thereof.
