U.S. & Chinese School Leaders To Visit Suburban Chicago, Charlotte As Part Of AASA’s Educational Exchange Program

In the News: District 212 Welcomes Chinese Delegation to Leyden
Approximately 100 Chinese and U.S. educators convened in Chicago-area school districts as well as Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Schools in September, 2018, as part of AASA’s Educational Exchange program. Members of the Chinese delegation are part of the China Education Association for International Exchange. The program provides opportunities for school system leaders from both countries to build professional relationships, exchange best practices and strategies, and encourage innovation to benefit their students. Topics throughout the weeklong forum will include building student voice, technology in school and personalized learning.

Speakers throughout the event included: Chuck Woodruff, Chief Operating Officer, AASA; Rebecca Wiegel, Director of Language Programs and Grants with the Barrington 220 (Ill.) School District, Mike Gaffney, Academic Director of the National Excellence in School Leadership Initiative (NESLI) and others.

 U.S., Chinese School Leaders Convene In Northern Virginia As Part Of AASA’s Discover China Program

In the News: U.S./Chinese school leaders convene in Fairfax
AASA hosted a group of more than 100 Chinese and U.S. educators in Fairfax,Va., in partnership with the China Education International Exchange Association (CEAIE) on January 30, 2018. The meeting took place at Lanier Middle School in Fairfax City, Va., with the theme, “U.S. and China K-12 Education Discussion — Principals’ Views on Innovative Practices.” Topics included one-to-one instruction, technology and teacher leadership. The event offered a great opportunity for the district's staff and students to meet with principals and educators from China. Schools within the district also had the opportunity to develop an ongoing relationship with a school similar to theirs.

Speakers throughout the event included: Chuck Woodruff, Chief Operating Officer, AASA; Phyllis Pajardo, Superintendent, Fairfax City Schools, Va.; Mr. CEN Jianjun, Minister Counselor for Education of the Embassy of China; Ms. FU Bo, Director, Department of International Cooperation, CEAIE; Mr. TIAN Xiangping, Principal, Chongqing Nankai Secondary School and others.
