Alexandria, Va. – May 17, 2018 – Traci M. Davis, superintendent of the Washoe County School District, in Reno, Nev., was selected to serve a three-year term on the executive committee of AASA, The School Superintendents Association.

The 21-member committee represents each region of the country. The committee meets quarterly and conducts the ongoing business of the organization. Davis was appointed to the board by Deborah L. Kerr, superintendent of the School District of Brown Deer, in Brown Deer, Wis., and incoming president-elect of AASA.

“Superintendent Davis has excelled in her career as a superintendent and as an educator,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “Through her participation with AASA leadership programs, coupled with her involvement in a variety of other professional activities, she has demonstrated a willingness to not only climb career ladders, but assist others aspiring to do the same. That is the mark of a true professional.”

“I look forward to serving on the executive committee of AASA, the premier organization for our nation’s superintendents,” said Davis. “There has never been a more important time than now to speak out about the value of public education, which is why I am proud to represent not only my state of Nevada but our great country in this new role. This is truly an honor.”

Davis has been a member of AASA as well as the Nevada Association of School Superintendents (NASS) since 2012. She has also been a member of the AASA governing board since 2016 and has served on the NASS Legislative Committee since 2013.

In addition, she serves as a mentor on the AASA Aspiring Superintendents Academy® and was among the inaugural cohort of the AASA Urban Superintendents Academy.

In July, Davis and five other superintendents from across the country will be sworn in as AASA executive committee members during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
