AASA’s Leadership Services Department is centered on work that provides knowledge on critical issues facing the education community and the expertise to address them. We are committed to developing and supporting school leaders as they work to ensure the highest quality public education for all students. Our work supports superintendents and school system leaders at every career level, from those aspiring to go into administration to those whose work has made them champions for our public schools and children.

National Superintendent Certification Program®

Application Deadline:
 June 15, 2018		 The National Superintendent Certification Program® offers early career superintendents a robust and relevant experience focusing on sharpening the skills that successful superintendents acknowledge are needed to thrive on the job. The program provides an in-depth curriculum, dynamic in-person sessions, one-on-one mentoring, a Capstone Project, and long-term professional networking to deliver comprehensive leadership development.
 

AASA/Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy

 
 Inaugural Conf

Priority Application Deadline:
June 15, 2018		 The AASA/Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy offers prospective and in-service superintendents a revolutionary new approach to ensuring success in urban settings. The program will offer professional development, clinical field experiences, and a range of resources to prepare educators for success in the urban and increasingly diverse suburban school district. Starting with a conference in August, members of the Academy will convene in-person one weekend a month and will connect online. 

AASA/USC Urban Superintendents Academy

Priority Application Deadline:
June 15, 2018		 The AASA/USC Urban Superintendent Academy, a dynamic nine-month blended program, delivered online and in-person, is designed to equip a cadre of school leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead a large urban school district. Within the context of the urban district, graduates of this program will be able to learn how to engage the community and lead courageous conversations about equity within the organization and with outside constituents. 

Personalized Learning Cohort

The Personalized Learning Cohort gatherings are designed to allow you to discover, plan for, and share how personalized learning will have a positive impact in your district, and what you can do to facilitate that change.

Early Learning Cohort

 		The impact of early learning programs on communities is profound. AASA’s newest professional Early Learning Cohort brings superintendents from across the country together to review emerging research, discover early learning best practices and plan to facilitate change.
