2014 AASA Legislative Agenda

Date: February 18, 2014

Last week, the AASA Governing Board approved the 2014 Legislative Agenda. The main priorities for 2014 are ESEA reauthorization, IDEA full funding, and eliminating duplicative data requirements. The guiding principles for federal education policy are also spelled out in the agenda, and include limiting the role of the federal government to ensuring equitable access, prioritizing existing challenges over new competitive funding, funding districts to support college and career readiness for all students, and supporting the total child.

The 2014 Legislative Agenda can be accessed here. This year, AASA also created a tri-fold version to make our priorities clear and concise. It can be found here.
