Washington, DC (August 26, 2013) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) and AASA, The School Superintendents Association, announced plans today to offer educators a suite of free online professional development sessions this fall. Included in the offerings are a four-part Google Hangout On Air series and a two-part webinar series, which demonstrate how educators are using data to inform instruction and improve student achievement. The online initiatives are the latest products of the collaborative initiative, Closing the Gap: Turning Data into Action project

The educational sessions highlight the Closing the Gap Professional Development Toolkit, which provides a step-by-step curricular plan and resources aimed at strengthening instructional practice and improving student achievement. During the interactive sessions, educators will learn from their peers and educational industry experts about how data can be used to inform their instructional practices and the critical need for effective professional development.

“Learn how innovative leaders are leveraging data to inform teachers and students and how this terrific professional development toolkit can help you and your district,” said Keith Krueger, CoSN CEO.

“The professional development interactive sessions, coupled with the Toolkit, will help educators at all levels transform their classrooms, schools and school districts into data-driven learning environments,” said Daniel A. Domenech, AASA executive director. “With these tools, teachers and administrators will have the roadmap they need to turn data into action and improve student achievement. We are confident educators will find the resources of great value in their professional development efforts.”
