Sidelight

Sidelight Curry
Dan Curry has become a student of underwater life while pursuing certification as a scuba diver, a 5-year-old hobby that has put him face to face with nurse sharks (he touched one off the coast of Jupiter, Fla.), turtles the size of Volkswagens and manta rays spanning 20 feet in Kona, Hawaii. His scariest experience? Cave diving in Mexico. “You follow underwater passageways within the caves, so above you can be solid rock.” Curry, a 28-year AASA member and superintendent in Felton, Del., says learning under master divers is exhilarating. “You kind of go along like a group of kindergarteners,” he quipped.
