Additional Resources

BY JAY MATHEWS

Those considering starting an International Baccalaureate program in their school district will find useful details on the IB organization’s website, www.IBO.org. The site includes a link for administrators. Other information resources:

  • Supertest: How the International Baccalaureate Can Strengthen Our Schools by Jay Mathews and Ian Hill (Open Court, 2005). It is the only book to date about IB programs.
  • A 2012 study on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme by the University of Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Research. http://uei.uchicago.edu/news/article/uchicago-ccsr-report-international--baccalaureate-diploma-program-students-chicagos
  • www.truthaboutib.com. This is an anti-IB website, run by Lisa McLoughlin, whom Jay Mathews describes as the leading IB critic in the United States. The site may be useful for anticipating the specific criticisms commonly raised when a school first launches its planning for a new program.
