New AASA Study Projects Substantial Job Cuts in Schools for 2011-2012

AASA and NSBA Sign Petition to U.S. Department of Education for Regulatory Relief

 

At a press conference on Tuesday, May 24, Daniel A. Domenech, Executive Director of the American Association of School Administrators, will release findings from the newest AASA member survey on the continuing effects of the economic recession on schools across the country in the 2011-2012 school year.

Domenech will be joined by Anne L. Bryant, executive Director of the National School Boards Association. The two associations have jointly signed a petition to Congress and the U. S. Department of Education requesting regulatory relief for schools in the coming year.

The press conference will be held at the National Press Club, 529 Fourteenth Street, NW, 13th Floor, Washington D.C, 20045, in the Zenger Room.

The study, under the direction of Noelle Ellerson, AASA Assistant Director, Policy Analysis and Advocacy, was completed May 18, 2011. Copies of the report will be available at the press conference.
