AASA filed comments in response to the FCC's latest public notice, related to the E-Rate program, its funding cap, and consideration of raising the program's funding level. The Notice of Proposed Rule Making (
NPRM, dated July 23) follows the FCC's July 11 vote to modernize the E-Rate program, as covered in
earlier blog posts.
AASA's response continues to build the case for a permanent increase in E-Rate funding. We build on our long-standing position that E-Rate modernization must be two pronged, a combination of programmatic changes and a permanent funding increase. To the extent that the July order made the programmatic changes, our comments here make the case for the FCC to act to ensure that the changes they adopted have adequate sustained funding both now and in the future.
