Bernadette and David Marczely offer an excellent overview of human resource management functions in public schools, offering readers a thorough understanding of what’s involved from a legal perspective.

In addition to describing contract negotiations in their different forms, the authors also provide an in-depth look at each of the functions. Their discussion of the collective bargaining process includes solid examples. At the end of each chapter the authors provide a section on applying theory to practice and the legal references to tie the work together.

The book could serve as an excellent resource for the full gamut of activities the human resources person will need, from settling and managing contracts to hiring and supervising staff.
