MY VIEW

As the school year approaches its midpoint, maybe this is a good time to reflect on what you can do to sustain your leadership over the coming months. The superintendency takes more than you give it, so as a former superintendent of 17 years, I want to offer three ideas for self-renewal as a leader that I believe will help you sustain yourself over the course of the school year.

The first idea is to take time to listen to a leadership podcast. Those I recommend are not focused on K-12 education but leadership in general. I find these podcasts expand my thinking and help me to explore leadership solutions from a unique perspective. Each option allows you to hear from successful leaders in other fields who discuss their situational challenges.
