STATE OF THE SUPERINTENDENCY

A growing percentage of superintendents are turning to attorneys to help them develop or negotiate their employment agreements with the board of education. The latest AASA survey of 1,776 superintendents nationally found 35 percent turned to outside help. The comparable figure in 2019-20 was 30 percent.

The survey discovered female superintendents were more likely than male counterparts to consult with attorneys on their contract development.
