Mental Health Cohort

Take Action for Mental Health

Child looking out of the window

This cohort builds on AASA's ‘Live Well. Lead Well’ campaign to connect district leaders committed to serving the mental and general health of each other, their staff, and their communities. You will collaborate to devise strategic plans aimed at enhancing mental health services and support for all stakeholders within your schools, fostering overall well-being throughout their communities. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring program sustainability and efficacy. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with other leaders on a national level, forming a united coalition dedicated to implementing tangible solutions.

To reduce financial barriers to participation in the AASA Mental Health Cohort, The Jed Foundation generously provided AASA support to assist in covering a portion of registration costs for educational leaders who would otherwise be unable to participate.

As the old saying goes, “people don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care.” Flashy culture programs won’t accomplish our objectives unless, as leaders, we demonstrate true care and concern for those we serve. A positive culture will support a focus on the mental health needs of everyone in the organization.

As we continue to review our mental health/education landscape, we must pay close attention to the feedback we receive from our students at all levels. Discussions with our students will better inform us as to how we can provide immediate quality mental health support.
