Advancing Rural Education Cohort

Shaping the future for all learners.

Rural leaders and students

Rural districts face unique challenges in staffing, workforce development, partnerships, early learning and other areas that significantly impact their learners and communities. In the Advancing Rural Education Cohort, you will have an opportunity to network with colleagues and engage in conversations about challenges and strategies in rural communities, particularly around the topics of workforce trends and partnerships with higher education.

What will I learn?
  • Build a network with other rural leaders to share strategies that will build knowledge to address challenges and discover opportunities
  • Understand preschool through post-secondary education models
  • Delve into early learning practices
  • Develop an understanding of the value of industry credentials and early college experiences in high schools
  • Gain knowledge of projections for workforce development
  • Understand the benefits of higher education partnerships
Who should attend?
Superintendents and other educational leaders serving rural communities.

The comprehensive high school is the dinosaur in the room and is designed to prepare all students for a high school diploma. Yet we know that 99% of all high-wage, high-demand careers require training beyond a high school degree. If we don't hold high expectations for all students to earn more than a high school degree, then only a small percentage of students will be truly prepared for success.
