AASA Publications Named as National Finalists in 38th Annual EXCEL Awards Competition

Association Media & Publishing today announced the finalists of the 38th Annual EXCEL Awards, which recognizes the best in association media and publishing. AASA submitted three entries, and two were named as finalists in their categories. The award winners will be announced and celebrated at the 38th EXCEL Awards Gala on June 25.

School Administrator magazine was named one of three finalists in the feature article category for publications with circulation between 10,001 and 20,000 for the article “Channeling Grief into Kindness” by Mark L. Adler, superintendent of the Ralston Public Schools in Ralston, Neb., about the suicide of his teenage son after repeated acts of cyberbullying by a classmate. The article was published in the magazine’s August 2017 issue. The other finalists are the Catholic Health Association and Project Management Institute.

AASA’s Conference Daily Online was named one of three finalists in the Online Convention Daily/digital category for its four-day multimedia publication produced at AASA’s 2018 National Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn., in February. The other finalists are the National Association of Realtors and the Society for Neuroscience.

This year’s EXCEL contest attracted 841 entries. Winners were chosen for taking bold chances in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing and electronic newsletter categories.
