Alexandria, Va. – June 9, 2016 – In advance of today’s U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee meeting, which will consider its bill for the FY17 Labor, Health, Human Services and Education, AASA, The School Superintendents Association, has expressed concern with funding levels contained in the legislation.

“AASA is keenly aware of the pressure that current funding caps—including those of the 2015 Bipartisan Budget Act—place on appropriations allocations,” said Noelle Ellerson, AASA associate executive director, policy and advocacy. “We believe it is the responsibility of Congress to raise these caps to better support appropriate investment in programs, including education.”

AASA outlined its concerns in a letter forwarded to the Senate committee.
